Feeling Down? 5 Steps to Get Out of a Slump

Do you get those days were you just feel down and can’t seem to escape the cloud? I sure have enough of those days. However, I’ve learned a few easy techniques to help myself get out of the slumps and enjoy each day. Note: if you have more of these days than good ones, please talk to someone. There is help out there for you.

1 | Get up and moving
I know on those days I just want to stay in bed. However, I know I have to push myself to get up and go for a walk or even just water my flowers. Fresh air and getting your body moving can help you feel so much better.

2 | Eat a nutritious breakfast
As Hippocrates said, “Food is thy medicine”. If you want to feel good, you need to eat good food. Most people have been brainwashed to think that fats are bad but guess what? Your brain and hormones are made of fat. Read more about the value of fats to your health here.

3 | Write about it
Why are you feeling this way? Write down what changes need to be made for you to be happy. Release whatever you are feeling.

4 | Talk to someone
Being alone with your thoughts will just keep you thinking and in a darker place. Ask a friend to do coffee or lunch. Go visit your grandma or grandpa.  Call your brother or sister.

5 | Practice self-love
Show yourself some love by taking a bath, sipping some tea, or doing your nails. It’s easy to forget about yourself but you need to put yourself first!
