Reflection + Gratitude for 2017

We have one more day left of 2017. As hard as it is to believe, another here is coming to a close. The saying goes that “as one door closes, another one opens”. We need to let go of the past and be open to the possibilities of the future.  It’s a time of transition and growth. We can learn from our mistakes and pat ourselves on the back for our successes.

“In the end, it’s not the years your lived, but the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln

2017 was a very exciting year for me with lots of change. I embraced all the change and feel it was what I needed this year. I can say I am in a much better place than I was even two years ago. I now have a loving home, stability, and contentment. With gratitude, here are a few of my favorite moments and memories.

Annabelle Jane

In April, we were blessed with our little niece, Annabelle who has been such a joy.  She lights up our world. Eric is loving that he is Godfather. She now is crawling and pulling herself up!

Engagement

In June, Eric and I moved back to the area near our families.  We had talked about engagement after we were settled down. However, I guess we had different ideas about “settling down” because shortly after we moved in (like 10 days!), he popped the question. I am so happy and can’t wait to marry my sweetheart ♥

DIY Woodworking

We also started to try out woodworking and building our own furniture. I kept seeing all the cool stuff on Pinterest and thought “why can’t Eric build that?” He sure does love my because he’s become my own personal woodworker! He built us a coffee table, two end tables, an entertainment, and a recipe holder. He did do majority of the work buy I did help with the sanding and staining. It feels so good to know we build them with our hands!

Lastly, I will be starting a new job on January 2. I am so excited and feel it is a great way to start off the New Year. I’m so grateful for all I was blessed with in 2017. With all the experiences, I learned some valuable life lessons on the way. Some from mistakes, others from successes.

Here are a few of the things I learned:

♥ live in the present moment

♥ be open to new opportunities

♥ you have the CHOICE to make your life what it is

As I am thankful for the past year, I am also excited and ready for the New Year and what the possibilities of my life are for next year.  I’ve told myself my word for 2018 is fun. Instead of worrying and always finding an excuse, I am going to say yes more.

If you have time today, sit down and reflect on your 2017. If you’re looking for more a workbook guide, check out Susannah’s Unravel Your Year. It’s free too so you just download it and fill it out.

When you reflect on 2017, what did you learn or how did you grow?
